Yesterday I had an experience in line with the "Light air " thread.
I was stoked at how easy it was to use the vang with it lead aft. I actually used it. Most of the time sailing at 2.5-3 knots so I didnt notice a huge gain but I felt like I was making a difference and percieved gains count too!!
yes for the most part. We were broad for most of the short while we sailed and I was playing with it to try to gain anything. I was just wowing at how much more useable it is now.
I have been considering running my Vang control line aft, but can't quite figure out how to do this. The rotating mast makes this somewhat challanging. Frank C has a nice setup but he has the super duper Grahauler 12:1 rigid vang.
Daniel,
Did you notice a substantial improvement with your cunningham? Does it take much draft out of the belly out of the sail?
Frank M,
Would love to get more details on that racing jib of yours.
The vang aft w/rotating mast may be a challange. Probably need a swivel block at the base of the mast.
Or just lead the vang control from a clam cleat on the boom rather than from the mast and drop it loose to the cockpit. Gives adjustment control without binding the rotating mast.
