Does anyone know the overall lenght of a 26M w/50Hp Honda my Marina is adding on 3 ft to the 26 ft (25,10) of my 26M charging me for a 29ft boat saying I need the clearance ?????

As I rent a Slip on the West Coast of Florida.. which has a 35 Foot Min. @ $11.00 per foot + Tax , on an Annual Contract.

Just note, If they can't make profit...It will turn into a Condo !

The 25-10 is the LOA including the rudders. Never measured it..but it is probably a good 2' further than the rudders would be. So they are in the ballpark... and they just want to make a little extra cash..

My marina in CA says the same thing ... Macs don't fit on the 27-foot dock, they need to go on the 30-foot docks.

I park in the mast-up lot, where the trailer PLUS motor adds 5 feet!

I just measured my M which is currently sitting in my driveway. The 50hp Honda added two feet.

I am also about to post a separate message about spring lines, but anyone who reads it here who has an answer, I hope will respond.

This season we have a slip at a marina on the Delaware river. Where do you hook a spring-line on an M? By the way, the marina we signed up with only charged us for twenty six feet.

just thought of it..if the motors (or even rudders on an M) are tilted up..the LOA probably is even greater than 2" longer

When they came to measure mine I wasn't there, but the rudders were up and so was the engine and it came out 29'. When they came back I told them to measure it again, this time with the engine and rudders down, but it made no never mind, I was in a 30' slip so I pay for 30'. The next size down was a 24' slip and even if I was to squeeze into it, they still charge by the foot LOA including the engine and rudders sticking up, since that is how we usually have it parked. You can't win so you might as well get a 30' foot slip and have room for a dinghy.

when we had a powerboat ..they marinas always just took what was on the registration. We were 20' LOA, in a 25' slip..paid for 20'. As far as I know they never measured our boat. I know they did measure other boats (usually because of added on swim platforms). I guess if you regularly keep the rudders up and the motor up, then 29 is a fair deal. Of course no one wants to pay more than they feel they should

Our marina charges by the size of the dock, not the measured size of any boat. When an outboard extends past the end of the finger docks, slip-neighbors complain because it limits their maneuvering space. I felt that it was fair treatment. All slip-neighbors must also pay for the slip length that can fit their vessel fully within.

I have a Honda 50 and supposedly the club I keep my boat at measured the boat and they now charge me for 28 ft.

Marinas all use some conflict-ridden system. Old marinas seem to use a simple boat/ model method, nothing too technical, but then you cant leave your davits and dinghy out in the aisle. Spring lines keep your boat centered or pull it forward. Many times new boats move into the marina and pull their boats against the dock between the fingers. At times we have to duck and crawl under the bowsprit of someone trying to minimize their dockage. Fortunately the marina patrols the dock for violations like huge steps that double as a dock box or neighbors that always seem to lock our lines down by tying over your lines, to get a better angle for his cleats, on your side of the dock finger. Ive seen people run into other boats, trying to maneuver around in the docks, especially those just a bit too far out into the aisle. Some folks leave their dinghy tied up behind their boat, or just leave it on the dock. Of coarse the Dinghy rack is full of unused, deteriorated boats, so they get lazy and just purge out onto the water or docks. Weve had people try to do a complete restoration at the dock, loading all their worldly possessions out onto the dock, (but not on their fingers, as they need the room to work) so you have to try to step around and through their gauntlet of boating debris. Lucky, now they prevent boat owners from working on their boats at the docks.

My worst fears were realized when found out why my boat cover was getting holes, as I caught a new neighbor who shared my dock finger sitting on his kickback chair flicking his butt ashes on our boat cover. I like to think I pay for security at the marina. Over the years they have caught people living on boats, they did not even know the owners (there are many boats left unlocked), they are the same people who try to tie the gates open claiming they have friends coming, so they will not have to wait for someone to come and they beg-in behind us with the excuse they forgot their keys, and do the same at the restroom facilities.

Our marina adds a charge to our dockage for the Taxes on the land under our slip and dock. Please! Thats reaching into your wallet. I guess they all get you one way or another. We have several bottom cleaning services available. Most try to scam you by claiming they charge by the length of your boat. I ask if they clean what is not under water, and they reply they clean up to and including the waterline. When you claim your boat only has a 23 waterline, they claim it is how the system works, everyone does it. We all hired a new lad cleaning boats on his own, as he charged by your waterline, and the old server wanted to re-negotiate, claiming those sailboats have keels, and we countered with several motor yachts have a cutwater and full length waterline plus multiple shafts, struts and propellers.
