Should I get a furling system for my Mac 25 headsail?

Post by johnnyonspot »

I just bought a 1983 Mac 25. it does not have a furling system. Do I need one? Where should I look for one and how much should I expect to pay?

I've owned 2 Mac 25's. I've never seen one with a furler but I'm sure it could be done. Whether you do it or not depends on your preference. Do you want a genoa? I would try it without the furler and see how you like it.

It has a jib and main, but no genoa. I would like a genoa for the right price. I think I will see how it works as is before shelling out for a furler. Anywhere I can get a mast raising system? I know I will be single handing it most of the time and don't know if I will be able to step the mast alone.
