Conch Cruisers

Post by Jack O'Brien »

So far it looks like there is at least one old Bimini hand Conch Cruiser going to Bimini in May and that is David Cason of "S/V Pocket Change". There may be more to join in but as of now it looks like most of them will be doing the Outer Banks in mid to late June. And some of them will be doing the north end of Lake Michigan in later July with the group from these pages. Pretty varied choice of venues next year, ehh? 8)

Bimini trip

Post by Roy B. Highland »

Sad about the hotel. Lot's of history lost.
Bimini was a one time trip for us. Not a lot to do.
Sorry about all the fal-da-ral about getting to Grand Bahama. I thought a late May early June crossing from Lauderdale would be great.
Full tanks and four jugs would more than take me across with plenty to spare. And that's motoring all the way.....just the way we did to Bimini.
We might have restricted it to X s and M s who can motor at hull speed.
It's not like Little League Baseball where everyone has to play.
Yes it would be a five day each way trip from my California home but then, so was the trip for Bimini. Stayed in a lot of nice campgrounds. Saw a lot of nice country. Might have to wait for a "nice day" for a couple of days. Not a bad place to wait though.
Granted two weeks in the Abacos would total out the full trip at 24 days or so. But then, I'm retired. Well, maybe next year.
