I've not used one, but it does look like an interesting tool. A lot easier than trying to use a screwdriver or other prybar.

I have not used this one, but have used the one from BWY. The BWY looks a little more home made, but it works OK.

Tom - I can't get the picture of BWY's adjusting tool to show up.
I make one out of a vise grips that works quite well. Is their tool something like that or is it more similar to the one from Powersailing Center?

shroud tool

Post by greybird-M »

I just received my shroud adjusting tool from Powersailing. I will post when I get a chance to use it, but it may be a couple of weeks since my schedule is a bit full lately. THe tool appears to be nicely constructed and finished-I look forward to using it.

I Purchased mine about four months ago. Its is not an easy thing to use. :( The tool always wants to pop out of the adjuster holes when I am compressing the shrouds. I am in the process of switching over to turn buckles instead.

I have a Shroud Adjusting Tool that I make from a vise-grips. It works. I sell it for $30.00, including Priority Mail Shipping. If you return it for any reason, I'll refund your $30.00, plus $3.85 for return postage.

Why not take good notes on what you want to do, drop the mast back, make the adjustments with your fingers, and then raise the mast. Test shrouds like bass fiddle strings by sound.

I just ordered one of Bill's adjusting tools and will let you all know what I think of it. I made one of my own like the one power sailer sells. Works but you need one more hand to use it and I loose a lot of skin from my knuckles too...
