I'm Going To MacGregor Factory

Post by ChrisP and Pam »

I'm going to try to tour the factory. I'll be saying hi to Bill. He seems like a nice guy. And maybe they'll have a ship's store there. Any suggestions or questions I should ask while I'm there? I'm going 11/9/05 - the day after tomorrow. Sorry for the short notice - last minute thing. Anyway I lost one of those plugs all over the liner and I'll be looking for that.

Pam wants to know how to actually rig the boat in 10 minutes! :D I can't wait to hear what they say to that!

I want to know how many times they had to go at the trailer to make it look so easy in the video! :)

Does anybody want to know how to sleep 6 in a Mac? :P
I'll be sure to ask!

:macm:

I'd like to know their opinion on the BWY 26M mods; especially adding weight to the daggerboard. Not so much the heavy bulb but the addition of lead shot inside the daggerboard.

I'll be sure to ask. Pam wants to ask you how would you raise it with the extra weight? She usually does that chore. I thought the bulb would be a great modification someday but I also pictured a hyrualic lifting mechanism. So that had to be added to the dreaded 'LIST'

Oh, um I see that this message might have been misconstrued by some. My job keeps me away from Pam and the house a lot of the time. And the list I'm speaking of is house repairs, chores, errands and just everything. It's a very long list and stays that way. Of course, Pam is at the top of the Good List and when we can get away, we do and we try to do it in the Mac! I hope that clears things up for ya! 8)

I would really like to know if those imitation wood window frames they have on the '05 and newer models will fit on the '03-04 models as I have an '03M and would like to get those frames on my windows. Could you look into it please. Thanks in advance. :)

I would like to know when they are going to make a 30fter with an 8.5 beam(even nine)...even a 30 X 8 would be adequate. And I would like the X footprint back........Ask Bill if in the future if could be possible....how about an option for the M plan or X plan?

***raising the board, have Admiral Pam put a wrap on the winch and use it to help her...see simple.... :)

Great Question, I would love the "upgrade" for my 2004 boat!

Does anyone at the factory read this board?

Have they ever heard of a guy named Moe?

Mark - Since they've moved on to the :macm: , they probably wouldn't admit to knowing Moe. If they were still making the :macx: , his picture would be in the brochure.

The question about the need for a 30 X 8(1/2) is for real with many of us. I want mine with a shower and forced air heat, and still launchable without a tongue extention.

I envision a lengthened and a bit wider Mac with more factory options to choose from........Yes, a shower and still keeping all the postive attributes of our current M's and X's!!! I don't think it would be that more expensive and would be an awesome boat. I would consider more amentities to put on the boat......... :macx: Randy

Those white plugs, I got a few extra from BWY. When I bought the rail seats. Try them.

My tiny suggestion to the factory, as an '05 M owner, is to change the shackle /pin-with-ring hardware for the furling jib and for the mainsheet pulley to the twist-type that retains the pin! This is the hardest thing to do on my boat. If anyone knows the exact size to but, please let me know, as I have tried several sizes without success.
