Monday morning I made a solo trip up to Lake Powell to get our trailer serviced, which required floating our 26X off it and then taking the trailer into Page to get the axle worked on. It needed fresh bearings, there was a sheared off lug, and they found the brake drums were completely rusted solid. Sadly, the brake actuator was frozen up as well and they didn't have one that fit the MacGregor trailer in stock, so I just had them finish the axle work while the boat was off it, then we'll return next month after having a complete actuator assembly delivered. It's almost like this trailer sat unmoved for a decade or something before I bought it, huh?
I think we'll be able to have the actuator arm installed with the boat on the trailer, that way we can get the Nissan two stroke's lower leg serviced at the same place, as she's definitely due for that and a new impeller. I started her up at the dock and she was not peeing, so I shut her back down. Hopefully, that's the extent of the issue.
Shot some video with these Ray-Ban Meta glasses on the trip, threw a track on it by a Tucson band I recorded last year and uploaded it to a new channel actually named after the boat, now that it has one:
The POV framing takes some getting used to, but I kinda like it.

Good think you are having that trailer serviced. Sounds like it wasn't very safe. Now it will be able to make the journey you are planning.
Yea, the POV is a bit too much. Perhaps mixing it with some traditional shots.
Nevertheless, I'm amazed at how well those glasses record video. I thought it would be more jumpy and lower rez.
I hear they are causing privacy issues in some places. Casinos are banning them.
The problem is it's hard to detect. I've seen some flavors that look like normal glasses.
Keep posting. My boat is covered and tucked away. Nice to live vicariously.

Yeah, it's the first try editing video from the glasses, they are pretty great for capturing close action with both hands free, just have to keep your head level and stabilization engaged. Mine are Ray-Ban Wayfarers, the Johnny Cash style, with prescription progressive lenses in them, you have to know what you're looking for to tell they're not regular Wayfarers, except when the light above the lense starts flashing to let people know it's recording.
I went up to Lake Powell to get the boat on Monday, stayed over night then found out Tuesday it wouldn't be ready to tow South, drove home that night. Original plan was to bring it down to Lake Pleasant Wednesday and have Vic join me Thursday and Friday to get some sailing in. Instead we drove up to Pleasant on Thursday and motorsailed our dingyak with the new Watersnake motor. Shot this video of our day, which I think the glasses do a lot better job of capturing compared to driving:
Stayed the night in a hotel up there and came back to Tucson on Friday, not the sailing trip we had planned on but any day on the water is still a great day!

That inflatable rig looks pretty cool.
How much run time did that battery give you? The motor looks like it pushed you along nicely.

It was under an hour. The case held a pair of 20Ah LiFePO4s, so 40Ah in parallel, just over the 37A max draw of the motor.
I tried it out with one the 26X's 100Ah LiFePO4s before mounting the sail rig, but it's 22#, so I switched to the pair of 4.65# batteries to keep it light;

Hi Tuxonpup!
A little bit different seeing your POV….
… don’t know if I can agree or disagree …
I guess I’d have to get a set of my own and share my POV so we could have a more in depth discussion…
It’s funny how tech has changed our perspectives of how we share our experiences.
Not good, not bad… just an is condition.
It opens up opportunities.
Thanks!

Ha, I just figured out I could rename my original channel to the boat name instead of creating a new one! Went ahead and re-uploaded the dingyak video there with the rest of the boat videos after updating the channel name. I think I'll leave the driving POV video alone as a first attempt using the glasses, they work better out on the water!
