Canal boating is one of those things that we’d like to do if the opportunity ever presented itself either in England, France or elsewhere in Europe. It seems like a great way to really enjoy a country and it’s countryside at a leisurely pace.
While such incidents as a sinkhole opening up or a canal wall collapse are very rare this incident does show it occasionally happens even in idyllic surroundings. Glad it appears that nobody was seriously hurt!
Could you imagine having the “literal bottom” fall out from under your boat? Sheesh!
It seems the biggest concern for those narrowboats is depth and width of the canals.
You can rent a narrowboat. I never knew this existed. Looks like a fun and interesting way to see the countryside. These canals have an interesting history as a "shipping" system before highways and trucks.
One of my favorite travel vloggers did a great series.
