Comfort onboard
I have 26s and about to start using it more as a getaway place and floating office as I work from home.
Looking for ideas about comfortable chairs to use below, in the cockpit or on foredeck. Something that reclines is good since I have what amounts to a pack of saltine crackers for a spine these days.
What’s everyone doing to make themselves comfortable onboard?

These are great:

I tried a cheaper version, but you could feel the metal frame through the cushions. These were a little pricier, but they were SO much more comfortable than the cheaper versions.

Re: Comfort onboard
Having never been in a 26S, what kind of chair works down there? Do you need a chair with legs or lays flat on the sole? Which would you be able to work on? Give us something to make intelligent suggestions. Photos?

What works?

I use my X as my "office" in the summer. It's not so much the chair as the cushions.

I have seen these before and am considering getting one for the Admiral. Good to know they have the PhysicsTeacher seal of approval!PhysicsTeacher wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2024 8:21 am These are great:

The key to inner peace is to admit you have a problem and leave it at that.

I am, as often the case, a "day late and a dollar short." But we have enjoyed this bean bag chair from West Marine. I got it for the Admiral when she is a passenger in the dinghy.

I like the concept of the bean bag chair.
Could you place it in many locations on the Mac 26?
Maybe at the bow, cabin top or around the area of the cockpit? Where else?
Could it be offered with a carabiner so if you want to attach it to your personal flotation device you could float with your bean bag?
I am thinking that this could could be a survival tool that could also be fun.

Re: Comfort onboard
Strangely, it hasn't made it to the 26X, yet, but it would certainly fit in the bow or at the mast. It has a handle that can be made fast with a lanyard to the mast, bow pulpit, or lifeline to insure it doesn't fly overboard. There are two pockets, one on each side. I'll take it up to the Mac next time I go and experiment. The foam pellets ae encased in a double bag system to avoid accidental discharge of pellets in case of a cut.The Islander wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 8:43 pm I like the concept of the bean bag chair.

Re: Comfort onboard
The macgregor boats, and all small sailboats I’ve seen are not lounging friendly to aging human beings. I removed the oem helm seat and made it flat. Now I can lie across the width of the cockpit back there under the awning. I prop up my back with a sail bag with the number three jib in it, so I can feel like a pirate.

Re: Comfort onboard
I've spent many hours lying across the aft seat with my head propped on a couple of boat cushions while the boat sails itself. It's a great way to rest or even nap on a long trip. At night, with a full moon and a pod of dolphins alongside, it is magical.

Re: Comfort onboard
Hi Herschel!
We haven’t used our dingy much as the seating aspect has been a point of concern for us.
(At least tippy canoes generally have firm seats…the “planks” in the dingy leave a bit to be desired
…sitting on the floor makes it nearly impossible to get back
up … sitting on the tube is inviting an un-requested swim
)
That bean bag is brilliant with no sharp edges, vinyl cover, handle and conformable/comfortable!
Best Regards

What a great idea! That has got to be one of the nicest seats I’ve ever seen in a dingy!I got it for the Admiral when she is a passenger in the dinghy
