Here you can see the salon with extended V berth and all seats now at the same height in the salon. I think this will be better both for sleeping and lounging around the table. The flooring is teak patio tiles from amazon. They ride a bit off the floor, so moisture should soak through and evaporate. They do clip together better than in the picture, it just wasn't a priority for me at the moment.

Below, the hinged galley top is visible. The counter that touches the hull was scribed to match the contour of the hull, then I put a 1x3 upright to create a cubby (barely visible), then hinged the rest of the galley top for easier access to plumbing and other systems

Here's a detail of the V berth extension and settee. The grate in front is a piece of decorative sheet metal from Lowes. Breathable, light, and pretty.

Detail inside the settee and new storage box. I drilled straight up through the old storage lid for some supports, and just velcroed some of the others to the hull. Since they should only get compression force from people sitting on the settee, I think this should be fine.

A not very intuitive photo of how I fastened the new galley top onto the old frame. When I cut out the old top with a jigsaw, I ended up with a lip all around the outside of the galley (convex on top, concave inside). I drilled straight through this lip, passed a screw through, and put a wing nut on from the inside. The wing nuts were really easy to work with upside down and, once they are threaded on the screw and inside the concave lip of the galley, they can't turn on their own, making them very easy to tighten from outside. I don't know if that makes any sense.

Do people like the original galley storage that came in the 26X? It seems like it's pretty heavy, bulky, and impractical, so I'm looking for insight into whether it's a good idea to delete and replace it. Might be my next project.
