LOL... I think I'm pretty good about not being an iron-fisted Captain Bligh, but I do sometimes have to catch myself.

Yeah and after it comes out I just can't grab it, muffle it or stuff it back. Sound travels too fast and her hearing is still good.

Fine as a joke, but in reality, I'd have asked her to hold course at the helm, then gone on deck myself.
True ... really !!

Occasionally I accuse my wife Tina of being a "Boat Nazi!" Especially when she's at the helm.

Hits home. Try sailing a 45 footer with 7 other strangers aboard.
After a week, the ladies got particulary testy.

My first MATE saw it before me in the paper. and already had it cut out to be plasticized as a 'reminder".
Guess that says it all!!

oh yea, in a good breeze, closing in on another boat, lee shore, can, needing to tack, release - Release - RELEASE!!! LET THE ROPE GO - NO THE OTHER ONE - HERE, TAKE THE WHEEL.
You can't yell at me.
I wasn't yelling.
Yes you were, and I don't appreciate it.
Why can't you remember the jib sheet?
When you yell at me, I forget.
I wasn't yelling.
Yes you were, and I don't appreciate it.

Yeah, for me anyway, the best recourse is to simply setup the boat for single handing...
Or, at the very least, put her behind the wheel and you handle the lines...

...or remembering that whatever mistakes s/he makes, they are probably a lot easier to fix than a day of pouting..
My favourite was from my sailing pals on Ontario
Him: Use the winch!
Her: Ive got it
Him: USE THE WINCH!
Her: Dont yell at me
HIM IM NOT YELLING. THE HANDLE HAS A PURPOSE
Her: Kerplunk! I wonder if it floats...oh, I guess not..
HIM: (Silence)

Randy Et al...does anyone know where I can get a hard copy of this one? What paper and when did it publish? I see a good Xmas or Birthday gift here in getting this framed for the admiral.

Color coded lines are good.
We now have a peppermint one, a spearmint one, and the "French Colors" (red, white, and blue).
... and we still need some more.
