Original deck lay up schedule.
So I did a little clean up around the property today. we had some brush that needed to be burned. So I tossed on the fire the old parts of my deck I tore out. I was surprised that the plywood and resin burnt but the glass was left intact. So this gave me a chance to see what cloth was used originally. To my surprise it was one layer of cloth. It looks to by the typical "boat cloth". It seems to be about 6oz cloth. It seems exactly like what I have used on building canoes. On top of this there is a layer of CSM. So that's it, one layer of cloth and one layer of CSM. This seems very under glassed. Some areas are very thick but seems to be resin rich. Thought I would share. I'll get pics when I can.

Re: Original deck lay up schedule.
Not bad longevity for an 1988/1989 boat!
34+ years on just 2 layers.
Somehow I am actually impressed

Yeah I know you’re in the midst of a big BIG project but I’m still impressed.
The resin rich aspect is sorta expected for the old SOP hand layup process.
Wet the surface resin, apply the cloth, work the cloth until wet, add more resin, apply more cloth, work that cloth until wet, smooth it out with a little more resin….. Not until vacuum bagging was it functionally possible to consistently get to the minimal production resin saturation that is becoming today’s expectation.

Re: Original deck lay up schedule.
I guess when you put it into perspective it is pretty amazing. My rebuild is way overkill then.
