Wow Highlander Pics show quite a love for both sailing, and the boat. Might you have any pictures of any mods you might have done to the interior?

Highlander, I know I'm late to ask this. But you obviously added to your rig.

Did you add HEIGHT to your mast? How did you do that?

The added headsails are pretty cool.

Highlander, quite a surprise I would guess that the Mac19 is much too tender to carry that rig. I expect that the cockpit routine could get pretty interesting. I would appreciate your thoughts on the following.

I came across this boat unexpectedly and bought it spur of the moment. What was a simple Idea at that time is becoming more complicated. A small engine that could reach hull speed efficiently , I would sail more. The convenience of a larger engine I would sail less. Sailing is really what I want, what would you feel the minimum power to efficiently reach hull speed.

I intend to tow this boat quite a bit. The rig seems ideal. A mast that breaks apart and a place to stow it inside the boat, and steps quite easily, and no spreaders, and no winches. Very simple, but is this rig sufficient to reasonably power this boat? Mac did not stay with it very long.

Thank You,

I didn't like the way the cabin top was hinged on the forward edge. I was in a W Marine store where they were selling the 1" flagpole holders (fph) at a very low price. I bought a bunch of them, removed the forward hinges, put 4 fph on the bottom 4 corners and 4 on the deck. Aluminum crutch (which I bought at a 2nd hand store) tubing fits perfectly in the fph. I cut them so the top is several inches below the boom, drilled a hole in the vertical forward edge of the cabin top, drilled and tapped a hole into the mast thru the sail slot and attach the top to the mast w a wing-bolt. It looks kind of like the top on a 26C when it's up

Hi Russ ;
Yes I bought a used damaged mast section from Dowsar off a 26X same Dia. mast, cut a 16ft good section off it & removed the top 12ft mast section from the Mac19 at it,s spliced section then added the 16ft mast section to give me a 28ft mast the original mast is two 12ft sections adding up to 24ft, then I added the second set of 24" spreaders & 12" jumper struts & stays to support the 4 head sails :wink: . I studied sail boat rigging online courses for a few yrs & seeked a lot of advise before doing this , I also sent some crazy cutter rigged vids to Roger,s engineer of my Mac 19 & he told me he was not surprised it could handle it as he said the Mac 19 being their first power sailor the Hull was way over built & a lot stronger than it needed to be the deep hard chines really stiffened the hull up , I still have all the design concepts & rigging plans in one of my hard drives somewhere lol, I also added a rigid vang , mast mounted mini winches , 3 more mast hounds & more
