Ballast tank hose attachment

Post by WayneC »

Brand new 26M owner here and when I took her out for her initial cruise, when I went to open the air valve for the water ballast, there was a hose attached to it that lead to the bow. It’s a 2011. Looks like the tank filled and boat seemed stable. Was this an addition in the later years.

Also, any other tips for a total newbie would be appreciated.

Yes, that would be something that a previous owner has installed. As long as it is not leaking it should not be a problem.

This whole site is full of tips for new users. My number one tip would be the search function here or just ask a question if something comes to mind. We are an easy group to interact with.

Welcome aboard!

Several owners modified their ballast vent to eliminate having to go forward to put in the plug after filling (or pull the plug before draining).

My only concern is, verifying the ballast tank is completely full. Venting into the anchor locker, or onto the deck is great, but you need a way to tell that the tank is completely full.

BOAT installed a motorized ballast vent valve and ballast level indicator on his boat. As Bill said, lots of mods of all types.

Can you post a picture of your arrangement?
