correct length & dia for spinnaker sheets
Hi, I have a 2009 26M that is rigged for an asymmetrical spinnaker and the original asymmetric spinnaker with sock. I need to find correctly sized spinnaker sheets for it. I wondered if anyone has a recommendation for the desired length and diameter for the spinnaker sheet? What online marine supplier would you go to for it! Also, I noticed that some spinnakers use a single sheet and some use two sheets. Which approach (1 or 2) works best for a 26M? Thanks, Jeff

You should connect directly with BWY. ( Blue Water Yachts) or Visit their site, then maybe call’em for specific info Re your setup. You are looking at 110’ of 1/4”maybe more. Enjoy!

Re: correct length & dia for spinnaker sheets
Thank you winSome, Wow, are you saying perhaps a total of 110' total, for 55' on each side, and possibly more? I see the windward slack-line would need to go the full width of the sail and then back to the rear track and cars. So I knew it would be a long one. Quarter inch dia...Would that be the same as our jib sheet diameter? Yes, good advice on contacting BWY. I contact the folks at BWY at least a couple times a year for parts and advice. I am still curious as to what the guidelines are for calculating the length of each sheet on a 26M, or what length folks here typically use for that model. Appreciate the information, as always. Jeff

Our jib sheet and halyards are 5/16”. Even 3/8”. Nicer to handle with the higher, frequent loads on them.
With the spinner you also want the line load to be less.

Make sure whatever you get will work with your existing sheaves, cars, and clutches. Getting a diameter that won't work is an expensive mistake.

Re: correct length & dia for spinnaker sheets
Thank you all for your information, and I took your advice to contact BWY. Todd pointed me to their web site, as I had missed the 110' spinnaker sheet listed under the "lines and rigging" category. It uses 1/4" dia line. It looks like that size won't bind up in my two cars I am going to run the sheets to on the rear tracks. It that doesn't work adequately, Todd mentioned that blocks can be attached to the rear cleats.
