Pitchpolehobie, that is quite the list of mods. We'll have to actually sail together next season! These things have a trailer for a reason. I'm planning on slipping the 26D next year and will bounce around from place to place on the X.
I'm for sure interested in a group trip in the Northeast next summer.

Agree - we need a better weather window. I'm looking forwards to doing some more 3-4 day/wkend Erie sails next season.

Pitchpolehobie, I am located near Moline, Illinois on the Mississippi River. Roughly 750mi to trailer to the North Channel Ontario (and I do it every year or so). I see you are located near Akron. One of my mods for distance trailering is to remove the spreaders and lower mast til horizontal with a short center support at the mast step. Also temporarily move the forestay to a U-bolt at top of mast which enables roller furling drum and foil to hang below the mast and not overhang the bow pulpit. Finally, spiral wrap everything (shrouds, stays, halyards, foil) to the mast with the topping lift or other line. Makes a 60MPH friendly rig. Regards, Closehaul

Thats not too far from here. ID love to do a north Chan-Georgian bay cruise. Its about 5hours from here to put in at the south end. This year is a bit tricky as Im expecting my first child in January so its tough to commit to any summer dates. I sail with a Potter 19 crew and they're really interested in a Georgian bay trip too. We will likely do some Erie trips this year if I can sneak away for some long weekends. Have you done the western islands of Erie?

Just installed new USB DC power adapters w inline fuses and bus bars on my batteries. What are the fuse sizes in the original switch panel for the 26X? I think the PO left a few in a box but i dont recall them being labeled.

All of mine were 5 amp. You need to look at the wire and size the fuse to match what's actually there though.

Wow, those are some mods!

How do you like your solar vent on the front hatch?

Did you have to cut a hole?

Has anybody figured out how to vent the cabin, while boat is stored without cutting a hole in the hatch, or leaving the door open?

Some took a bunch of energy but generally worth it. Most important would be steering mod and some done to make single handing easier on deck.

--its great id recommend having 1 on a 26x.
----prior owner installed an old solar fan; marinco brand; it ran 247365 so had burnt out. It was best to replace entirely. It was drop in and I used butyl tape to waterproof it. Works great definitely helps reduce any odor and dampness

I use this in thr winter. I have a tarp over so the above solar fan doesnt work.

Hi PitchPolehobie!

Nice door storage for the bits and bobs!
Looks to keep them viewable, organized and handy.

That’s got to be one of the biggest organizational challenges…. Where/How to keep all the little things one needs with out having to rummage through an over stuffed bin of misc small stuff all competing to hide from ya when ya need it. :D

Best Regards

I know that feeling.

What I did was to place semiopaque plastic bins with latch close lids in all of the bilge compartments under the seating areas. I lettered them A, B, C, etc. I then listed on a legal pad what was in each lettered bin, and where it is located; i.e. Port Starboard dinette seat, etc. Now, when I need to locate something, I look at the list and go to that bin. I don’t worry if what I need is in there. I trust the list. I should point out that I also laminated the legal pad list. It’s a boat. Things get wet. :D

At the moment I am on a train, so I will post photos later.
