I thought Catigale was providing some new recipe for making flares like:

Take your sharpie and open it so you can get to the ink liquid and then pour in 250 ML of crazy glue
(I thought Methyl Ethyl Ketone was crazy glue :( )
- and then a big flaming explosion of fire will come out of the end of your sharpie making a nice flare to save you in the ocean but you need a steady hand to hold the flare so you don't burn yourself. :(
Actually, if you lit a sharpie full of MEK, it would probably attract a lot of attention. :D Of course the screaming from the burning molten plastic running down your arm would eliminate the need for a whistle, bell, or horn, too. Maybe you're onto something.

Catigale is quite the joker, so that certainly could have been his intent.
Yeah, I can't remember but I thought Catigale was in New York (or maybe that's only Tom that's in New York) but I know that New York people often play jokes on people in California like people from Boston often play jokes on people from New York. Or is Catigale the guy that was the 'Reining King Commodore Rear Admiral of All Chesapeake Bay Power Squadron' or was in charge of the Coast Guard for half the Hampton's or something like that? (We don't have stuff like that on the West Coast so I get confused about those things.) Either way I know he is a lot smarter than me so I get tricked a lot.

Just be glad you don't live in Alabama. Even the California folks pick on us. They are always surprised when we show up wearing shoes... even more so when they see that we have teeth.

I have a subtle feeling that you are the tricker more often than the trickee... :D

If you're ever down this way, stop in at the double-wide and we'll have some pork rinds and cold beer... 8)

Sure. Cajun, Bluegrass, Country, Rock, Jazz, or even Classical. Not into Rap or Hip Hop.

1) I was in West Marine buying flares, and the CG Aux gent behind the counter sold me on this electric flare. Said he's tired of inspecting vessels and taking hundreds of expired flares from folks, whereas this will last for years.

2) I did my flight training in the Army in Alabama. Did you know the toothbrush was invented there? Well, it must've been, because if it was invented anyplace else, it would've been called a teethbrush.

:) :) :) :) :)

Was he joking? I thought he was giving us a fun fact. Sounds like he might have been at Fort Rucker. His remark was reasonably accurate; depending on the company one keeps... :D

We would never shoot anyone for poking a little fun. But don't touch my truck or spill my beer. 8)

We travel all over the country in our van and it of course has California plates. In Oregon the police hassle us every time we park. In Idaho they don't even let us have a peaceful night sleep IN A CAMPGROUND! THREE times in Idaho we have had police knock on our van in the night to CHECK OUR REGISTRATION! IN A FRIGGIN CAMPGROUND!! Wyoming was really strange - checkout time at 11AM yet at 9AM the Wyoming campers would park in our campsite and knock on our door and ask us to please check out because they were waiting for the site!! We never had that happen anywhere else - really rude. I know they were only being rude to us because we had California plates because the camp host TOLD ME. Arizona people are always nasty to us, but we expect that because every winter the Zonies come here and tell us how much better Arizona is than California, (and every winter we ask them WHY they come to California every winter if Arizona is so great.) In Washington we got a flat on a remote road - no cars for hours and we were parked well off the road and I was struggling to change the tire and the police came and I thought they might help me but instead he wrote us a ticket for NOT HAVING FLARES!!!!!

You can take your flares and shove them up your . . . .

Anyways - the flares subject brings up bad memories.

We have been treated better in New York than we have in Oregon, Idaho, Washington, and Wyoming.

But in the SOUTH - wow, those people are the BEST! Everywhere we go in the south the people treat us like family - We travel all along the Gulf Coast and have nothing but great experiences with the people we meet. Even two years after Katrina we were in Now Orleans and the place was a war zone yet the people were all very nice. The people in the south are the best. Yes, there were a lot of trucks and a lot of beer.

You might want to consider trying to register in New Hampshire, nothing like having "Live Free or Die" right on the license plate to keep folks from buggin you.

EDIT: EXCEPT IN NEW YORK! (for some reason they hate everything to do about New England, something to do with the Pats, Bruins and Red Sox from what I understand....?

Wanna go to New Hampshire - have not been yet. We enjoyed our time in PA near Gettysburg. The people on the East Coast seem to be pretty normal - they sort of remind me of regular people in California. Outside of San Fran LA and Sacramento are the regular people. Regular people in California are sort of like Canadians. Pretty much laid back blue collar.

Will I need flares when I go to New Hampshire? :|

Let us know if you go past Pittsburgh, and get to Philly. Be glad to show you around. I’m sure Kevin would be interested also.

I have been to the land of George Westinghouse before but I was just a kid. Lots of fun and the people were great. I will be sure to check in before I enter.

Not to feel left out, but I lived for eight years in the land of Thomas Edison. In Menlo Park. In NJ. Walking distance to the giant light bulb on a stick. It was the place where he perfected and started selling electric light bulbs, invented the first phonograph, an electric train to the copper mine that was across the street from my house, and so on. But I've never even been in the museum that was down the street. :P
