There's a hatch cover/screen that caught my eye a few years back. This is to allow the hatch to be left open when it's raining out. There was a neat picture of this little canopy over the hatch. This is what I was able to recover of what I tried to keep:

My 14 year old son is taking sailing lessons this week and next while we live on the boat. When he is at class, I'm taking an abbreviated work day. He zooms to his lessons in our dinghy.

We've had some pretty good adventures so far. Trying new things to eat in downtown Madison; sleeping out under the stars; and of course sailing. Last night was a hoot. The winds were about 20 - 25 mph. I had my main reefed and my storm jib up. My son did most of the sailing and would laugh when I scolded him for heeling too far. We even sailed by his sailing club with him at the helm and one of the female instructors shouted out.

A couple of days ago, we overheard some fishermen say: "I've never seen a sailboat that fast must be specially designed for it."

We slept through some high winds rain and lightening one night. Well, not really sleeping. We were on the leeward part of the lake and had the bow tied to a tree with the bulwega anchor off the stern.

I do feel like I'm swaying a little at work though.

No. No computer. Tim and I are roughing it in the Mac amongst the locals. I'm at work now heading back out to the boat.

Baby stroller bug net $5.00, fits front hatch nicely. Bug netting for queen size bed $16.00, drapes nicely over dodger and bimmini. What can I say, wife is a thrifty shopper.

Someone last year posted the baby buggy netting and queen bed net. I agree, works great. Had many people stop by at Stuart Island docks and said they wished they had one.

I had a cheap piece of screen with dowels resting in the tracks for last couple of years. It was fine for sleeping but when going in and out I kept knocking it off.

The fix was cheap, just sew in some lead weights to keep it in place, but it was one of the projects I just couldnt get to.

I broke down this year and ordered the fitted ones...last outing at Gay's Point (poor choice of words) it was real nice to be bug free and yet easily move up and down.

I tip my hat to those of you who have made the frugal solutions work!
