Scupper drainage
I am a new owner of a 26M. The scupper just under the motor will not drain. I have carefully fished wire, etc through the drain but it won’t pass. The boat is in a slip. Is there a plug on the other end, or has this happened to others? Thanks, Gene

Re: Scupper drainage
Assuming the thru hull was drilled like mine it should exit the transom wall approx 1-2in above the boot strip/(water line normally loaded). The transom drain is t connected with the sink drain. If your drain hose is translucent you should be able to locate the blockage with a flash light.

Re: Scupper drainage
I find blasting the outlet on the transom with a hose to force stuff back up and then blasting the drain in the motor well will unclog stuffs.
The drain goes to a T where it meets the sink drain. From there it goes out the transom.
It's always getting clogged. Some folks have run a string through there to pull clogs out.

When mine gets clogged, I use a similar process as Russ, I place a hose over the drain opening in the motor well and the blast of water acts like X-Lax.

A wet Vac also works to pull clogs out of that system. Place the Vac over one port and alternately plug the others so you pull through each leg.

Re: Scupper drainage
Once cleaned out, I have tried various methods for keeping it draining. (This is an X)
I tried a piece of canvas mesh rolled into a tube (to prevent debris from going down), but it wouldn't stay in place.
Now I just have one or two soft drink straws in the drain. Seems to be working.

Re: Scupper drainage
mine bugged me so much, i cghanged it all, i put another thru hull- cant remember if it was an inch or 1.25 " on the transom, next to the existing one.
then i put a thru hull fitting in the motor well- cut out the other pathetic fitting, and just plumbed a straight line from the well top the outflow- and plumbed the sink to its own dedicated thru hull- and upgraded its size at the same time, and the hose from the sink to the thru hull.
so now if i blast the motor well fitting, it doesnt blow back up the sink, and the sink drains better too!
