Back in Autumn 2016, Ventura was claiming a Spring 2017 delivery on their new 23's. So far, still just Photoshop pics, a scale model, and a prototype mold under construction. Any thing else of substance? Can you say Wing-Z?!

The Westwight Potter 15, and 18, were two of the most popular trailerable sailboats manufactured on the West Coast other than the Mac. Their designs and molds were sold at the end of last year, lock stock and barrel, to the Chinese. Subsequently the manufacturer Ken, and the manufacturer of Malbecs entered into a joint venture to start a new company to manufacture the Malbec 18 and a 23 foot Mac/Tattoo Clone.
The new company has been named Ventura Sport Boats and has leased a manufacturing facility close to Similar Valley. They are now exhibiting and selling the new Malbec 18 design, a pretty little thing, and a prototype of what appears to be a modified Tattoo 23, rebadged as the Ventura 23. They won't disclose whether they purchased the rights to the Tattoo but there are a lot of similarities.
Go to their website to see this years model for the US market and the improvements they claim to have made.

Reading their blub on the web site, they imply that they have designed the boat from scratch.

Im thinking its more like a Hunter / Mac Hybrid, hybrid. Lots of Mac like features and the combined ballast water / fixed ballast plus weighted centerboard system that Hunter tried.

I do like the combined ballast system, but if I remember it was a bit of a disaster on the Hunters, not sure if that was because the Hunter got it wrong or it just didnt work as calculated

How nice would it be to be able to sail in a light breeze without the water ballast and still have 150Kg (310lbs) of low hung ballast and when the wind picks up just suck in another 300Kg (660lbs) of water ballast

Well Tatoo has/is moving into a new facility in FL so I doubt they would license designs to another manufacturer - see Tattoo Forum
