Charleston, SC Advice Wanted
Hello!
My family and I are planning on driving down to Charleston and staying a few nights on the boat this summer. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions regarding a ramp to put in or a marina to stay at? I've googled a few of the marinas, but wanted to get some opinions of the fine sailors on here. Any suggestions are welcome. I would prefer options that won't completely break the bank. Thanks in advance!

Great place to sail and tour. Our favorite place.
You can launch at Remley Point (see map). We usually stay at City Marina or Charleston Harbor at Patriots Point.
Plenty of anchoring in Wappoo Creek across from City Marina.

If you haven't already, sign up on https://activecaptain.com/. Lots of good info, including reviews of marinas by other boaters, local knowledge, etc., plus navigation charts (not for navigation, presumably). It's great to have both maps, charts, and satellite views all available on one screen, plus info on everything related to boating that people add. I took a peak at the area in question, and it would take an hour to go through all the info there. FWIW.

Thank you both for the information. I will check out those marinas and active captain. We're looking forward to the trip.

I should add that you do have to sign up to use the full features of Active Captain, but they don't seem to bother me with email excessively (which I could probably shut off, I suppose, but I like them). It's definitely worth it, IMO.

Did you leave your vehicle at the boat launch overnight, or did someone in your group drive it somewhere else? We're getting ready to go down there in about a week, and I'm finalizing some plans. Thanks for the help.vkmaynard wrote: You can launch at Remley Point (see map). We usually stay at City Marina or Charleston Harbor at Patriots Point.

I have sailed with VK Maynard and you can leave your truck and trailer there for the whole weekend. It is a great place to sail with lots of history and touristy things ashore for entertainment.

Bahama Bound, we may take you up on that offer. Sorry for the late reply, but we've been vacationing in the mountains as a family. Also, I think you are the one I bought my boat from a couple months ago! We are planning on going down that way on Saturday.

Re: Charleston, SC Advice Wanted
Thanks, cptron, for the info on the boat ramp. I see you are from Hattiesburg. I'm originally from Picayune, just a little south of there.
Re: Charleston, SC Advice Wanted
Sorry that I didn't see this sooner because I'm in Charleston. Hope you had a nice visit and if you have any more questions re: the area please let me know.
