That being said, people who have had them, seem to really have liked them. Not as much room as an X/M/Tattoo 8)

You'll find a nice promotional video about the 19 at http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hemNdJmzQBo.

I've never see one in the flesh, but it looks like it could be just the ticket for a couple...especially those living someplace with some pain-in-the-ass HOA busybodies that won't allow a boat in the driveway, since the 19 will scoot handily into one's garage. Though it may have been a short-lived precursor of the 26X, it sort of resembles a 26M.

While still having that "civilized" enclosed head, it is necessarily a bit more Spartan than its larger siblings. The 2-part sleeved mast that stowed in a special recess along the cabin wall is sort of interesting and clever.

If memory serves, the owner of another 26X in the state park boat lot I keep mine in used to have a 19, so maybe he'll chime in with some more informed scuttlebutt.

Highlander had one. He could probably tell you just about anything you want to know about them. 8)

It's a very rare boat and a really really good boat. Very sought after by those in the know. It fits the missing market that the tattoo 22 was supposed to fill. SUPER easy to trailer and launch. It's a great boat and really good looking too.
There is a guy in Arizona that has one and every now and them he brings it to Oceanside - they sail and water ski and have all kinds of fun on that boat - it's a really sturdy boat.

I've had mine since 1996 and still love it. Love it even more when I wash, polish, and wax it knowing it's only 19' and not 26'. :D

If the 19 was still in production at the time I bought the 26 I probably would have bought a brand new 19 over a 26. The 19 is faster under power and also faster under a kite. The MAC 19 has been clocked at over 15 knots under a spinnaker. You can't do that on a M or an X boat.

It's a beautiful boat with a stellar design. The built in compartments inside the cabin for stowing the mast is genius - with the mast stowed the whole rig fits into a standard garage and you can close the door. That might be why all the ones I have seen are in such perfect condition. They were really well built, too.

The MAC 19 was the perfect trailer sailor.

Not so sure 19 feet is perfect, I find that my 20 footer is great to sail as its smaller than the X but spending more than 1 night aboard became painful and that with just the two of us, with the three kids it would be a nightmare.

My old back loves that I can stand up straight (under the hatch) while making a cuppa.

Smaller is better when in waterways with other boats around, but once out in open water the 26 comes into her own, she sails with such ease, grace and so little effort, hits 6knts with little effort, the poor old 20 footer really has to be sailed to maintain 5knts.

We dont sail her much at all, more we put up the sails and relax
