Re: Great Sailing location
Sounds great ....it is beautiful down there. We can use the wall as a base or the outer harbour marina . I know there's a launch ramp at ashbridges Bay but I don't know about overnight parking.

Re: Great Sailing location
It's only about 40km from Port Credit, so presumably an easy day's sail if the winds are right. Long way from Cobourg, though; one of my favorite places on the Lake.

Re: Great Sailing location
ramp at ashbridges Bay
Is terrible for parking not a lot of space & on a nice day when the park parking lot is full every one just piles into the ramp parking lot fill it out to the point where u can not get ur trl around to the ramp if somebody has not blocked u in already they used to have a shallow channel was badly neddin dredged the last time I used it but that was a while back

Re: Great Sailing location
We could also do a mini-loop from Scarborough to Whitby to Port Darlington or New Castle to Cobourg, and back. Each leg being 16 to 18 nm, which is a bit longer than the 11 nm or so from Port Credit to the Toronto Islands that we usually do.

Or Port Credit to Bronte Harbour in Oakville to Hamilton Harbour to Fifty Mile Point, and even on to Port Dalhousie, with each leg only about 10 nm (except for the last, which is about 15 nm).

Sort of like the motorcycle hopscotch trips I used to take with a group waaaaaay back, when I was single.
Or something like that.

I'm in. It'll take me a very long day just to get to Oak Orchard, and there isn't much along that shore, but I'm game.Catigale wrote:Tom..how about oak orchard to cobourg in a Maconvoy
Maybe, but I rather doubt they're quaking in their boots at the prospect.Catigale wrote:We could take over Canada easily

Re: Great Sailing location
I recognize Bluffer's Park Marina, I "flew" over there recently via Google Earth, as the new owner of Boat of Us has it slipped there; it looks like a beautiful facility.
And (once again) a very nicely done video, G!

Yet another sweet vid, Geoff. I'm amazed at how steady the image is. Does it use image stabilization processing, or is it just that smooth?

Re: Great Sailing location
Another 25 nm, and the loop is closed. Long leg, but likely with the right wind for a port tack the whole way, and exactly half the distance from Rochester to Cobourg, which is how I've gotten there when I had a boat that couldn't be trailered. So not a bad sail, as long as the weather cooperates.

I believe Ross and Gabe sailed, or power-sailed, from Niagara the first year I was at the MMOR in 2013, which is even farther.
