For music on my vids, I use the Free Music Archive.

I've experimented with adding sound effects for comic enhancement. Not satisfied with what I've found on 'free' soundboards, I create my own sound effects by recording thru a headset microphone on a narration track.

I had to watch some YT videos on using the GoPro studio. It's not as intuitive as, nor has the features I'm used to with WMM.

I haven't used Widows Movie Maker since XP. It was VERY intuitive and so easy to us then. A quick look at the latest version (on my Win 10 box) and it's just as easy to use. That's a big plus. Most people need to edit cuts, add music and transitions and be done.

My wife's Mac has iMovie and my son did some amazing things with it in minutes. Pretty cool stuff out of the box.

Whatever works best is the best. I've gotten into Pinnacle and it's power amazes me for such an inexpensive product. Slow/reverse, image enhancements, pan, zoom, time lapse, blue screen all kinds of stuff.

I would say whatever you use, youtube has a how to video to teach you to do it better. That's how I learned much.

That worked a treat! Thanks for the link. :)

I converted a video file in MTS format, raw footage from my Cannon digital camcorder, into MP4 format in several different sizes and resolutions, and loaded them into Movie Maker. The smallest format option offered converted quickly, and came up instantly when loaded into WMM, with no internal conversion (unless it just happened really fast), but larger sizes required some time to convert, both in AVC, and inside WMM.

1440 x 1080 took some time for AVC to convert, with the dual processors running at or just below 100% the whole time, though not much RAM was used. WMM also took some time to convert internally, but even large files popped instantly once converted and I was able to jump around at will, cut, transition with animations, etc., with no black screens or hesitations. :)

Now I don't have to buy another program, most of which have system requirements above my work machine, and well above my old machine. 8)
