BWY & Tattoo 26

Post by chuck »

I am probably the last to know. I am going to the Seattle Boat Show this Sat, Sun, and Mon. I looked for Blue Water Yachts, but could not find them. So I called them, and asked if they would be there. The said no, as they did not have any boats for sale. I asked if the 26 Tattoo would ever be made again, and they told me no, that the molds were shot. They are waiting on the 22 Tattoo, but have no idea when that will be. They will concentrate on parts for the 26 for the time being.

Sad ending for the Macgregor/Tattoo 26. :?

I would think that after all these yrs that the technology for hull design has changed greatly, I would think that if new molds were to be made the design would be greatly different for a power sailor , the upper mold for the deck could remain as I think it is still modern & stealth for euro design & we really need to catch up with that , I think if they do ever bring out the 22fter & it gets the raves they r hopin for , it will turn into a 26fter . remember the original 19M power sailor turned into a mac 26X & then they brought back the 19M as a 26M !

So r they waiting for the economy to turn around ? who know,s , but I would say if the bean counters r in control yes they r & if so u can say good by to the mac !
But if they r takin Roger,s advise they maybe still in the future design process & just waiting for the Market to be right for something new !

Interestingly, my impression is that molds for the 26 are going to cost about the same as molds for the 22. Demand for the 26 is pretty much a proven. :|
