I took my bicycle up to the San Juans last year and while it was fun, I'm getting older. A motor is a good thing! I am leaning toward a good quality gas motor that fits over the back wheel, in place of my bike rack. It needs to fit here, instead of like a conventional motorcycle, so that I can still fold the bike in the middle. The motor would drive the bike directly via a roller on the back tire, or via a belt. The whole thing would weigh around 7 to 8 pounds. I don't have all the DOT rules, but some requirements are: "less than 50cc", "Less than 2 hp", "no gears".

Rich,
Would you consider an electric model. Much quieter
and could be recharded at night while you were in the marina.
