2015 Lighted Christmas Boat Parades

Post by Obelix »

The 30th Annual BCYC Lighted Christmas Boat Parade as seen from the cockpit of a participating boat. Tom and Christy who did a wonderful job in decorating “Watercolor” and were later voted into the top five boats, invited us to sail along. :)

These lighted Christmas Boat parades are really a big deal in Florida. We had front row seats for the parade at Ft. Myers Beach while staying at Moss Marina. It was really fun watching all the decorated boats parade by. More recently, boaters on the Caloosahatchee River staged a lighted boat parade, starting at Sweetwater Landing Marina, where we were tied up. The owner there had his boat decorated, and invited us to ride along on the boat. We had a great time waving at folks who came out to enjoy the parade. Thanks for posting the video of the Boca Ciega parade, Obelisk. It's a beautiful parade, and nice to see a Mac so brightly lit.

"Sanity Clause" Ya gotta love it. We don't have fun stuff like that here. :P

I'm guessing from the presence of the Coast Guard or Harbor Police that this is some sort of sanctioned event. The only thing like that I've ever seen up here is a Blessing of the Fleet event on the Genesee River in the spring, though I've never participated.

What's with the rubber mast effect? Is that something that happens with camera phones?

Oh I LOVE it! So cool. Would love to see something like that.

One of my favorite Christmas Movies. "It must be Italian".
This is great!

@ Tomfoolery - The "rubbery mast" effect appears to be caused by either the .mp4 compression or the video-stabilizer coding in PowerDirector 14. :(
Thank you all for your nice comments. :)
