outboard prop for 60 hp honda
The 13 3/4 X 13 prop will only get rpms to 4200. The motor WOT is 5000 to 6000. What do you think about a prop that is 14 X 9? Should give me 800 to 1200 rpm more. Think this will do it?

Re: outboard prop for 60 hp honda
I would think a 9" pitch would be it. My BF50, with the same final drive ratio and engine speed range, has a 11.8 x 10 x 3-blade, and I also use an 11.75 x 9 x 4-blade for pulling a wakeboard, but there isn't enough of a performance difference that I can feel, other than low end hole-shot (if you want to call it that on a Mac with a small engine
). Both of them get the boat up to around 5700-5800 rpm.
Just a guess, but I would guess at two inches larger prop than mine, same ratio and engine speed, and 10 more hp, 9" pitch would be about right. Assuming the same design prop, of course, and there are other variables besides diameter and pitch. I think all you can do is take your best shot at a new prop, and see what it does. Best if you can borrow one from the dealer to try, even if you have to pay more buying from them, as it would cost even more to start a prop collection, even in aluminium.
Edited to correct my misreading of prop dia.

Re: outboard prop for 60 hp honda
Everything I've read here says that 14x11 is the sweet spot for a 60HP.
By the way, just curious - do they make a 13.75 x 11 prop? I was thinking of getting a prop guard, so if I get a 14" diameter one the blade diameter needs to be a little smaller.

I could not find a 13.75 in 9 pitch that's why I am getting a 14 X 9. It is in aluminum, if it works out will try to get one in stainless. I think there is a 13.75 X 11. Looked at a lot of props so I might be wrong about that.

Re: outboard prop for 60 hp honda
The Honda 60 comes in 2 gear ratios, the BF60 is a 2.07:1, whereas the BFP60 is a 2.33:1 gear ratio.
If you have the former then you are likely stuck with a 14X9 but if it is the 2.33 try a 14X10, maybe even 14X11.
I get wot @ 62-63000 on my Yamaha 70, 2.33:1 with a 14X11 so I am guessing I can go 14X12 when I buy a spare. They are expensive so we need to get it right or close to right at the get go.

Re: outboard prop for 60 hp honda
9/13 = about 31%. So your rpms should go up about 30%, probably closer to 25% since you are going up in diameter too. The 8-1200 you estimated should be correct. The 13 3/4 X 13 prop will only get rpms to 4200. What do you think about a prop that is 14 X 9? Should give me 800 to 1200 rpm more. Think this will do it?
Keep in mind your hull speed cruise RPM will also go up 30%. If you are doing 2300 to reach hull speed now you will need 3000 rpm to cruise hull speed with the 9 pitch.
I believe you are preparing for the loop, so I would prop to your intended travel speed. It will probably be different than people using their motors for day trips.

Re: outboard prop for 60 hp honda
Terry and Seapup thanks for your responses. Right now with the 13.75 X 13 pitch, at 2000 rpm we are moving about 7.4 to 8 mph depending on how loaded we are. If the 14X 9 makes the boat redline then I will move up in pitch accordingly. Thanks again to all those who responded.
