Ok - this photo is "not so beautiful".

After anchoring out for the weekend, I sailed the 4 hours home with this sea-weed-kelp-crap hanging off my shiny stainless steel anchor.

Everyone was looking at me coming into the marina and I thought, "wow - all the extra polishing on the boat is sure paying off". ... imagine my surprise when I tied up and saw this! :o

Shrink wrap tape is plastic (water proof) and uber strong. I think I could have kept going on the canal trip and not worried about water intrusion... but better safe and not add to the damage. It's the tape that is used when boats are shrink wrapped for the winter I'm told. I was in North Tonawanda (Buffalo) when I got hit so I guess it was something normal for the other boaters to have onboard. Here's a link to some available online. http://shrinkwrapcontainments.com/p-22- ... tapes.aspx

Our old MYCBC club burgee after a Georgia Strait crossing (Vancouver BC, Canada) a few years ago in a 25 knot blow.
