Looking forward to the next installment! We used to live in Key Largo and took our 1971 Venture 22 out into Florida Bay whenever we could. We just got a 2005 :macm: and look forward to returning to the Keys for a couple months each winter. Where did your Keys travels take you?

Gazmn, Just came back from a 3 day stay at Bahia Honda. I went with my tow hauler with 2 Motorcycles and Two 12 ft kayaks (one with 30lb thrust elect. motor) . Kayaks were on top of my F150, Bikes were in my Custom made 14 ft Cargo trailer.
We had a great time and best fishing was under RT 1 bridge, Lost all connection wireless and found a spot under bridge with 3 bars in both our phones.
The main shopping building has Wi Fi but very short distant.
Kayaking east side was very nice with clear water at the time, snorkel to see the grass and things that grow, no reefs close to shore.
Launching here is a breeze but getting a campsite will take you months unless a party cancels after 11 months reservation. It happens, was told I cold keep same site for 2 days more.
Dockage at marina had only 4 boats and one of them was a MacX.
I talked to them and they were set up with 200 amp solar power, Mast off for long time cruiseing in the keys.
Lots of fun in the Keys!
I would highly recommend Launching at South Dade Marina as we have done many times and cost $10 a day. Cruise Biscayne Bay in Cristal Clear waters (In Calm Conditions).
Dave
PS, Most Camping sites cost over $80 a night in the Keys and dockage can be $50-80 a night. There is a lot of deals and best to find them before you leave.
Most of launching fees are much less than camping fees, and many include dockage with hookup.

Did you meet Glenn on 3 Gypsies? He has the MacX with the wood roof over the cockpit.

Yes at Bahia Honda Marina, he has a hard top (not wood) that he keeps his 200 watt solar panel on. No mast and uses boat as a power boat.
Nice couple and they been cruising Keys awhile.
Dave
PS:, if you are 65 yrs young and resident of FL. you can camp or dock 50% less than booking price at any FL State Parks. How sweet to be 65 (18 days to go) :)
Already booked Kosraean park in Ft Myers for 3 days. Cost $50 total with my discount. Nov.13th thru 16th.
Will be Kayaking the river down to Estro. Have 11 ft Kayak with 30 lb trust outboard as backup . :D
I use the outboard for trolling for fish or strong currents. Like my cake and eat it to.

I really don't have the money right now to do it as I'd like. Which is rent a house with a dock & bay or ocean access. First order of business is currently underway. That is, fixing boat trailer for such a trip, making sure she hasn't rusted through too much.

Then if thats all good. Get a ski mask & water gun to rob the bank
