Thanks. I am reasonably certain its a 20" shaft. I think I read somewhere that the plate above the prop should be right around the water line?

That plate needs to be even with the bottom of you boat, not waterlinebobbob wrote:Thanks. I am reasonably certain its a 20" shaft. I think I read somewhere that the plate above the prop should be right around the water line?
With an M, thats at the keel area, about an inch below the transom bottom.

Re: speed over water vs speed over land
We had a perfect SOG Vs SOW yesterday. light wind sailing into the incoming tide of around 3Knts, we sailed just about in place for around 45 minutes, I recon we made no more than 150 meters actual headway in that time which was perfect because we got to play with sail settings and adjustment and have a cup of coffee without having to worry about running into anyone or out of room.
Speed Over Ground = Best part of zero
Speed over water = About 3Knts
Then we turned 90 degrees onto a broad reach across the tide and she kicked up her heels like a philly let lose in a field and came alive
Brilliant sail and very relaxing
