There is water leaking around the bolts which attach the genoa jam cleats on my 2006 26M. I took off the mirror cover and can see the drips. There is a soft white sealant on the nuts and bolts that is still soft and tacky. First I want to put more of this sealant to try to fix the leak.
If that doesn't work, I will take off and re-set the cleats - but they nut and bolt will still need to be sealed anyway.
Does anyone know what type of sealant was used?
What sealant is used on thru-hull deck bolts?

You can use a marine polyurethane sealant like Sikaflex - 291 or 3M 5200, note these also double as adhesives as well.

This will fill small cracks and voids of the type you mention by capillary action, but is not the factory sealant.

Good how to on rebedding hardware so it will last:

I have about 300 of my 400 leaks stopped on the other boat using it and wished I had tried it sooner.
