Fittings on mast of 26x

Post by GART »

Does anybody know how the mast cleats are fitted to a 26x?
I have just found the bottom horn on the starboard mast cleat has broken off. Are the cleats just held on by self-tappers? Or is there a nut & washer inside the mast somehow?
Thanks for any advice

I don't think they have nuts inside the mast. Have added an extra cleat to the mast by using self-tappers. They seem to be holding just fine

Mine are self-tapped. No nuts. As far as I can tell, there are no nuts inside the mast. There's one that's hard to get to inside the track holding the main halyard block on the top of the mast but that's a different issue altogether.

:? Thanks guys, I did not want to undo the screw and have a nut drop down inside the mast.

I've stripped a mast. They're "self-tappers" i.e. sheet metal screws.
