Original foam for a 26S

Post by jhastie »

Can anyone tell me where Macgregor installed factory foam on a 26s? Does anyone still have this foam?

Mine still has the original foam, though I'm planning to take it out for storage. It's over the V-berth, over the galley, and over both sides of the aft berth.

I hope you aren't planning on sinking your boat. Odds are astronomical that you will put a hole in the boat to where you'll need flotation. But if you want, just stick the stuff anyplace you aren't using for storage.

Seems that if it ever got swamped, it would be better to let it sink to the bottom and buy another boat, then have it floating on the surface creating a navigation hazard.

Foam is also up in the bow space in front of the v-berth - little chunks, but fills that space.

And I'm not sure I follow the logic of letting the boat sink... I would probably be on it! I'd want it to float!

But that's just me...
