How viable do you think it might be to simply bend the old mounts out 3/8"?


Yes, but... those ladder arms have a radius bend that won't allow it to lift up into a vertical position, just slightly above horizontal at best. Also looks like it's proximity to the rudder bracket would interfere with rudder motion - use quick pins to install / remove it.The holes won't be parallel anymore. I'd have to bend...

True.
