That is another fascinating story from this thread detailing what some of us have gone through. Yes, thank you for sharing your life altering experience.
It is interesting that you should mention pain killers. That is exactly what I am struggling with right now, and the sooner I can get off of them, the better. Very good point.

Phil,
I hesitate to post this here, but here goes anyway.
Yes
Having really grown up in the drug culture of the late '60s and having lost so many friends, from both legal and illegal substances, I always have this in mind. I don't necessarily mean people who have died from drugs (although I knew many who did) . I'm also talking about, otherwise, strong, young, hard working and bright people who started out with some indecent, taking some pain pills, or antidepressants and slowly becoming dull shadows of their former selves. That's really the worst. Having to watch a good friend or loved one waste themselves away inside a prescription bottle, over a ten year period is not good.
This is why, at some point in my recovery (sooner than I probably should have) I flushed the prescribed potions and went with the natural process of pain and healing. and believe me, the pain was horrific at first.
To qualify the next statement, I was never a drug user but............
I liked the prescription drugs back then and knew if I let them take hold of me, I would become one of those dull shadows, sitting in front of the Circle K with a brown paper bag and slowly fading away. Life is too important and interesting to waste like that.
Only pills that I swallow for around 40 years now are vitamins and an occasional aspirin.
If you need any encouragement at all, let me know
Best Breezes,
Steve K.
