Pirate Invasion Beaufort, NC Aug 6-8th

The annual pirate invasion is happening August 6-8th this in Beaufort NC. I typically take the kids via car, but was thinking about going by boat.

Has anyone (who is still active on the board) made the trip from Wilmington to Beaufort before? Any thing I should look out for?

Also has anyone going to this event?

Sounds like fun .we may catch it on the way back from chicatique va . The last week end in July .that's the festival for the pony round up !

We may go...trying to time a trip to NC with either this event or the September Mac "pirate" trip...not sure which is going to work best yet with the extended family calendar, but this looks great for the kids!

Last time I was there in 1982 waiting for a window on my Alberg 35 to St. Thomas.
I have seen on Vidio and reports of this Pirate Invasion for few years and many have reported great times.
I would love to go again but 1400 miles away and no time off for girlfriend will leave me behind.

The event is still on, don't know who's going. If I go, I'll probably be driving, no time this weekend to go by boat.

Shameless bump, since I'm planning to motor up the ICW from Carolina Beach to Beufort for the NC Pirate sail I'm still hoping to find someone who has done that stretch of the ICW before.
