Why wouldn't they put oil filters on 4 stroke outboards? Any speculation on this.

Mark, there should be a filter there--starboard side of the engine best I remember. I recently changed the oil in my 140. You have to remove the side covers below the cowl. Use a Suzuki filter. I tried one from CarQuest and it matched the #s. It worked but couldn't re-install the side covers--filter a fraction too tall. I bought an extra Suzi oil filter for next time. Lesson learned---stick with the manufacturer's products, they fit.

I see that I have to replace it. I'll look again.

Mark, you can do it on your own. If you removed the screws from the lower cowl, it will split apart and expose the oil filter below the exhaust header manifold. This may help: http://www.suzukimarine.com/sr02/images ... 115bro.pdf
