Custom Cockpit Enclosure

Post by cptron »

I just got my M measured for a custom made full cockpit enclosure. Cost is pricey but I think will be worth it. Differences between the BWY enclosure and the one I'm getting include, better quality vinyl windows to see better, bigger windows for openness, screens on windows for better ventilation for those warm evenings that will still keep the bugs from drinking your grog and more room with the possibility of us moving onto the boat in the near future. The rough estimate is $5100 which will not be over that and he said it could be less depending on the actual finished size. 8)

This guy is also having a special, free sail inspection until the end of February if your interested I can provide his information.

Crikey that sounds dear to me for just a dodger, think I will stick to the boom tent and hatch covers at night or lather up with repellent.

It's about double what the BWY full enclosure costs. As expensive as it is, the BWY enclosure isn't a bad deal. I'm parting my way up to it, having just bought the bimini. Dodger is next up.

Boblee, Since I am highly allergic to any bug spray  and the admiral and I did not like the closed in feeling with the BWY enclosure we are hoping it will seem more open with the bigger windows plus we will be able to open them up with out letting little ones in. Thats what made it worth it to us. but each there own.

Hey Ron,
If you already have a nice bimini, why not get the BWY dodger and just get the rest of the enclosure locally?
You can even get the SS hardware from sailrite and still should be half of that estimate.

I had thought about doing a custom enclosure for a few years, but then my canvas guy retired and closed his shop :(

If anyone near to me in West Coast Florida has a BWY enclosure, I sure would appreciate a tour of it. These sorts of things are very hard to buy sight unseen on the Internet.

I'm working on finishing up this round of mods...Including the BWY enclosure. I'm pretty sure I'm going to like it just fine.. I just need to get out there :D Ron. :macm: Dauntless.

J, It comes with all SS hardware and 1" thick walled SS tubing.

Pedro, Believe me I have thought of that but my bimini is a piece of S*#T. The middle bow sags. It has no zippers for adding on. It was not made for the stern rail seats that we had added on since getting the boat so the only option was to go with the full enclosure. so for a couple of thousand more we can have larger, better quality windows that open and have screens in place to zipper down which the BWY does not have. That was out justification for spending the extra.
