Thanks for the link.... I hope Tattoo sells a lot of boats . Florida can use the industry, as we have very little .. The price has gone up.. go figure... most things go up in price as the years go by. The more successful they are at selling this boat, the more some say that my 05 boat is worth.. I see that possibly going either way. But I never gave a moments thought when buying my boat to it's ever being an investment .. I remember a few knuckleheads here saying the New M would be the end of Macgregor boats.. Needless to say it wasn't. We have often talked about the next model change and here it is. Just like the differences between the X's and the M's, I like some of the changes and don't like others when comparing the :macm: to the :tat: That said My Hero has :tat26: for sale as well 8) http://www.boats4sail.info I will put money on the line that if you speak with Bill about sailing and especially Sailing any Mac ever sold he will have personal advice for you.. That's Why I bought my sailboat from a Life Long Sailor.. NOT a Bass Buggy Salesmen.. I got a GREAT Price from a guy who sails these boats and KNOWS what is , a worth while addition and what is just a glamorous money maker for the Dealer.. Its been 9 years now and I have never regretted 1 cent spent for even one short moment.. http://www.boats4sail.info and Bill Too supports this board $$ and has for a Long Long Time..

Hi Kurz,
I am fortunate that my dealer (Klaus from echo yachts) has an engineering background and he is reinforcing the attachment of the rudder.
If you look at the photo it is from a 2010 26M at our yacht Club, I could move the tip of the rudder 20cm before it would start to move the metal attachment. Another 26M from 2008 was a bit better but still had about 10cm wobble.

I only had a glance so but from memory what the dealer does is to put a thick plate (~1cm thick) on either side of the current metal attachment and probably change the bolt keeping the lot together, I am not sure how far back is the plate going or if it is actually attached to the transom, when I get the chance I will check it better.

It could be that if the owners of those 26M were to tighten the nut they may be able to decrease the wobble, for how long I don't know, the attachment looks a bit fragile as it is....
Anyway apparently once fixed there is very little movement. While there he also makes sure that the rudders are aligned correctly, many times there have been problem with one or both, sometimes pointing in opposite directions... and the motor also pointing in another !

I still have my door that I removed. It's totally useless unless you are a midget. We put up a curtain, so much better and roomier.

Hi Russ
Thanks for the tip :) My wife hasn't actually tried the new door and given she is 6ft it sounds like the old 26M door would be a waste of time.... perhaps funny to watch :D
I can't wait to get the delivery so I can take some good photos an perhaps give a bit of a review.

all the best!

I modded my door so it opens across the cabin instead of closing the head off into a small area. Works much better, still has a solid feel, and still folds in the same space. I do not like the curtain. I used the same wood, and even the same edge trim from the old door.

Even funnier when you take up a good portion of the head with a hot furnace! :D

I modded my door by removing a leaf and just having the single leaf opening out till it stops across from the head against the bench seat. It provides way more room in the head compartment and works very well with the installed C head. Even got a heater there like Bob and no problem. Provides enough privacy as long as no one is in the V birth at the time!

Or at night when the lights are on inside and people out for a romantic walk along the dock can see you through the front windows. :D

We are never at the dock at night, but nevertheless, we added some of that stick on privacy stuff that people put on windows.

I guess that explains why I kept seeing people run away from my boat from the bathroom window.
