Parts Source for 2-22
Parts Source for 2-22
I live in Florida and was wondering if anyone knows of a parts source for my 1971 2-22 closer to me then Blue Water Yachts. I need keel pivot and lock down bolts with rubber washers. Would also like to get a new cable for the keel winch and attachment bolt. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Parts Source for 2-22
I sourced my parts locally.
For the stainless hardware you can get it mostly at Lowes or Homedepot. West marine also carries some stainless hardware.
As for the SS braided cable 5/16 IIRC for my v21 i also got that and associated hardware from Homedepot. It might not be the best stainless cable for salt water as it's not really marine grade stainless but at some 15 bucks for the lot of it if i were using it in salt water i wouldn't mind replacing it every year.
There is also a place in georgia, i cannot remember their name but they are the manufactures of steel cable and accessories that distribute to places like Defender and west marine. I put all new rigging on my boat with hardware (swagless mostly) for some 200-300 bucks using all old parts to copy them. This included all new and larger size turnbuckles and swages(or is it nicro press???) whatever it is it's where you loop the cable through an eye and then clamp it. Anyway, they would have 5/16 cable better suited for saltwater keel winch cable if you wanted it to last more than a year. The home depot stuff should last longer but i would want a piece of mind as my boat sits in the water all year. Gives me a reason to go swimming when the water temps hit 80.
I made all my standing rigging and jib halyard which is cable to line.
I had to wait all of 2-3 days for shipping as i'm in SC.

I would second the Home Depot route especially if you trailer the boat all the time like we do....Sitting in salt water maybe not so much
Also "Ace hardware" or "True Value" depending on where you are from has a LARGE selection of stainless stuff at a fraction of what a West Marine charges and is where I get most of my SS hardware

For that keel wire you really should use 316 SS cable IMHO. If not for you, maybe oft the next guy.
If you drop. That keel hard , you can lose your keel ....and your boat from the resulting hull damage.
Other stuff, in fresh water, cheap SS is fine
