At the end of October we decided to get the Mac's trailer sand blasted and two pack painted before it rusted away before our eye's. So we booked a berth in the local marina (Tin Can Bay) for a week, that cost $155. Then back home to strip of all the wiring, beds, etc that took a half day, then first thing the next morning into town (Gympie) to Cooloola Sandblasting for four days, they blasted and painted (three coats) for $500, then to the brake place for a replacement brake line from the master cylinder to the wheels now that was the most expensive part $295.
But we are happy it didn't cost an arm & leg,and under $1000. now our trailer looks good as new.
We would recommend Dave at Cooloola Sandblasting his work is top noch.
Sounds good fresh. I may look in to that when I get work, ours is in good nick but not for long in the salt water. Now you need to hook that fancy trailer and boat to the car and bring it down here for a weekend sailing.
Did the same year before last...sandblast...let it bloom...and coat with POR15 system (multi coats of all sorts of stuff)...once done coated the whole trailer with a rust inhibitor....greasy,waxy sheet...seems to work....no sign of rust yet but being steel it will return.Hopefully will last long enough for me to finish my Knott trailer...galvanised german made duel axle.Tell you what though $500 is a good price,I paid same for just the blast.
The reason for this blurb is the spray on rust inhibitor...makes the trailer look sheet but seems to work...mine was Ferguson Knock out rust in a spray can but comes in 5litres also...used to sell it but got it from Seaview House Aust 0414 832976 in Gympie....blurb in catalogue says contains Lanolin and fish oil

We learnt a very expensive lesson. Some people in Gympie are so old school. So the lesson learnt is don't go back to that workshop.
Crikey thats an unreal price for the brake lines you could buy the tools and do it yourself for that and still have change.
We had to get ours sandblasted when we got it galvanised and they wern't happy nor was I when I got the bill that original paint realy takes some getting off otherwise the galvanisers would have just stripped it in the bath but it wouldn't come off and even after blasting left bits behind, no wonder ours showed no sign of rusting after 7 years.
