New Furler

The Harken is an excellent furler, however, the aluminum foil can be a problem for trailer sailors as it requires gentle handling to keep it from bending/kinking. Had one on my Capri 25. www.mauriprosailing.com has the best pricing and an expert advice team.

Stock headstay for a MacX is 1/8 , many of us went to a 5/32 headstay. Ball bearing CCD 2 furler is much better than stock non bearing CCD.

You can get the CDI FF1 with a ball bearing option for an additional $88 as well. People with the stock CDI should be able to upgrade them.

And there's VXB.COM for people who don't mind hacking. I believe I'll have a good look at how the MacGregor furler works and see if I can put a ceramic bearing in it.

Don't know if the CDI FF2 has ball bearings or not but either way I think a larger drum will help.

Torlon bearings are an option, either at time Iof purchase or easy add on , with the FF2.

Torlon bearings are really nice with the 150 genny, having used both. In salt water, you do need to rinse the Torlon bearing to keep the housing from corroding.

Installation of the bearing is a 30 minute job.
