Just an update on "The Bedroom". We spent the night anchored there last night and it was dead calm and super peaceful, except for the three tinny loads of Surfers with their boards, who pulled up at 0545 and seemed to believe they all needed to shout at each other rather than talk :x

Only one or two groups of campers which surprised until I found out this morning that its no longer a designated campground so no more showers, toilets or bins :(

Checked out Horizon Shores, Rudi Maas and Jacobs Well on the weekend....was advised the 4 wide ramp at Jacobs well is good but big drop off at the end and security for leaving your tow and trailer for extended time a bit risky. Locals suggested Horizon and phoned them on Monday and they will charge $20 for ramp usage BUT you can leave your rig there and they mentioned security patrols. Not sure about going to strange places in our rig....bit long and cumbersome at 18-19metres as we tow with a long wheelbase truck

Funny how lifes plans change. We wont be doing this trip in December as planned now, I was given a redundency at work and am now unemployed. I have some prospects on the horizon and a job interview on Wednesday but even if I get a job I wont have time off now and if I dont get a job I wont have money for the trip. I have booked a week at the Mooloolaba marina taking in new year so we will still spend some time on the boat over the break. This is particularly exciting as it includes new years eve and they have fire works over the harbour here so I will be anchored in the bay to watch them which is awesome. I have noted all your helpful comments though for next time. Cheers Dennis.

Dennis, Sorry to hear you have lost your job. Hope you got a decent package. Plenty of time for cruising later when you are more secure in work

Bart, not sure if you actually got to Horizon shores, but if not, don't worry. There is PLENTY of room to manoeuvre and park the big rig there with no set parking bays (just park anywhere in a biggish open area), and as you know, its a rural area so not heaps of traffic etc to worry about.

I wouldn't like to leave my rig at Jacobs Well for too long. Mostly the locals are fine and there is very little local crime, but some oxygen wasters do drive out there at night sometimes to break into cars. There is onsite security at Horizon shores and I wouldn't be too worried leaving my rig there, and I would be happy to keep an eye on your rig for you as I drive past there a few times a day and could check on it and call you if any problems.

Investigating new launch sites is nearly as exciting as actually doing it....nearly....whilst I'm not unemployed, staffing issues means our plans of regularly using our Mac have been dealt a blow...got to do the 8-4.30 Monday to Friday which really stuffs up my recreational activities.Still haven't moded my duel axle trailer so a short tow is probably the go for after Xmas fun....Tweed river and fireworks at the Jack Evans boat harbour is not bad.But will eventually get all my sheet together and go further afield.....the plotter card shows me the amount of water you can access from the Jacobs Well area and will require some serious water time
