What if you lose the puffin and put the M and T over/under, or superimposed?

Remember... you'll likely be seeing this from a long way off. Seems too jumbled to me.

Besides, you loose all the silly symbolism of the Puffin! A goofy, clumsy, Scottish bird that nobody would ever say was beautiful, but it's definitely "built-for-purpose" and entirely unique - nothing else looks like one - and it's amazingly successful in it's environment.

Agreed. Doesn't lend itself to overlay. What about over/under?

Drop the M and the T altogether, reduce the size of the white circle to suit the puffin's head, and you have symmetry. You could add a single large white star directly on the tartan ahead of the puffin for Admins, and again Symmetry is achieved.

The great 'unwashed' will soon figure out it means MacGregor/Tattoo soon enough.. if they don't >>> :P to them.

I would buy a burgee of some sort if I liked it. I don't really care for the puffin. I like the symitry idea. Not sure about the T with the M why not make the burgee design unique and recognizable and use a small M or T followed by 26? If you MUST use the puffin for the official mac icon, how about just the profile in black, and the tartan? NO white bubble. Puffin profile in upper corner of flag, the tartan, and on the lower corner, the M26 OR T26. The flag would be what ties the two brands together. Keep it simple and unique.
OR puffin profile in center of flag on tartan, with M or T in WHITE on puffin profile, no 26.

Why a Puffin?

Boats not from Norway - Puffin national bird there

Graceful in the water - not with following waves for sure :?

Hides their excrement - yeah, we do have enclosed heads :)

I think including the "26" is too specific and narrows the demographic that it would appeal to. It would exclude the 22 customers, for one. I also think the puffin profile in silhouette would not be as easily identifiable as it would need to be for a logo.

(Sorry my few comments so far have been negative in this thread - I don't usually like to identify a negative without also providing a (positive) solution, but this is an interesting creation in progress, and it's coming along nicely. So please don't be disheartened by my feedback anybody).

I like the puffin. Don't know why, but I just do.

As for specific boat, no model or letter. Manufacturers yes.
How to incorporate an Mac and the T? Dunno.

I agree with John. Lose the "M" and/or "T". Folks in the know will recognize the tartan and puffin right off. Those not in the know will have to ask anyway. I like the Puffin.

I agree too - striking, attractive, unique and recognizable. And looks fine from port or starboard. Symbolism should be simple. Nuthin' but a puffin.

Nuthin' against puffins, but what about the tartan with a skull & crossbones?

The puffin image may associate with Puffin Dinghy
