50mm or 2" - the same or not?

Post by adrian.oliver »

Having lurked for what seems like ages, we have eventually bought a 26X :D Unfortunately it is in the US not the UK :( I know all about CE directives, VAT and Duty etc and it is still a good deal :) However, I am unsure :? about the tow hitch - is the difference between the US 2" and the EU 50mm that significant. I can't believe that it is but I don't want the thing jumping off my tow ball half way home from Southampton! Thanks for your advice.

PS Sorry I think I got carried away with Emoticons :P

50 mm = 1.9685 inches... maybe size does matter

So if you ball is 50 mm it will be a little looser. Maybe I should put a caliper on my ball and see if a 2 inch ball is indeed 2 inches.

per my 7" Mitutoyo caliper, it is exactly 2.000"
