New sailing video, west Oahu, Hawaii
I took the family out on the west side of Hawaii. It was flat but very windy. I reefed the main but the wind was a little too strong to put it up. So we left the jib up only. We were cruising at about 5.5 to 6.3 MPH, so there was no need to add any main sail to it. We got to see two whales coming towards the boat. It was an awesome sight! We erred on the cautious side and cranked up and moved out of their way. As the sun went down, the rain started coming down the ridge lines. It was a race to beat the rain back to the harbor. The rain never made it to the water line though so we were lucky. The family really enjoyed the sunset sail!

Good video!
Some of us are in frozen climates, so it's nice to watch.

Seeing the great time you had makes me think of moving my boat back to other side of island. Definitely more good sailing days off Waianae than off Kanaeohe due to swells. Just didn't want to raise/lower mast all the time.
Definitely got me thinking....

Move it on over. I want to see if there is dry storage that is safe on this side. I will be here until march. It is 8.32 a day to dock it here. You get 90 days a year.
Also, it is the feedback I get from you guys that motivate me to make the videos. I started so others could have a few videos to watch if they wanted a boat like this. Now it is to motivate those who already have this boat. So feedback good.

Waikele has self storage back by the old WWII ammo storage bunkers (same place that had fireworks explosion a couple years ago). Across from golf course. Was about $50/month for a space in the big parking lot. I used to keep my boat there, and it was very convenient location for anywhere from Waianae to Sand Island. Just got lazy about raising and lowering the mast....
Next time you go out from Waianae, head down to Electric Beach. Lots of boats anchor there, or at the South end of Pokai Bay.
I need to get one of them cameras - half the time I'm single-handing.

I need to see how much the Ala Wai charges in Waikiki for dry storage?

Beautiful! Which autopilot do you have? Your boat is set up a lot like ours, but that's one missing link I want to add.

Great Video! Nothing better than boating with the family(when they're in the mood
). The link send me to youtube's mobile site...which doesn't seem to have happened to anyone else, but you might want to check on it.
I like the way you edited the camera footage to keep the horizon stable, is that a stock movie program or are you taking your videos to the next level? I've watched a few helmet mounted videos and if they're not corrected like yours I have a tough time watching. Thanks for doing a good job.
Like everyone else who really loves your videos I'm stuck in winterland, just visited family in sub-zero with snow and now we're back to barely above and pouring rain
Thanks again,
Willy
