In reference to the posted Mod (for the Mac 19 -- I'm sure something similar would work in other boats/ models) from earlier this month -- I have tested it in dynamic conditions, underway powering, the extended mast crutch works fine to yield plenty of headroom in the cockpit.
It takes about 60 seconds to move the mast down for travel, or back up for boating/ working.
I'm new to the boat, and absolutely loving it so far. It's flexibility and functionality are truly unique!
Upcoming mod may be to make the rudders/ tiller easily removable for motoring. We had a lot of water splashing back up the motor well, and they just produce drag...
Winterizing, sadly, in Maryland. Thinking of those in Florida, etc., going year round -- "What's a boating season???" : )
