Peace of mind

Post by capthb26x »

Hi all ... Im sure this has been mentioned here, but I just thought I would mention it again .... due to a personal experience on our last sailing trip, I would like to suggest taking a spare battery with you when you go out on long trips ... our third evening out, after stopping to walk on the beach, the motor wouldnt start when we got ready to move to our next anchorage ... it just made a buzzing sound when I turned the key ... after checking everything I could think of, and even though my charging gauges showed both my batteries were in the green, I finaly pull started the motor ( not an easy task to say the least .. lol) ... that night the buzzing sound kept popping into my mind ... the same sound I had heard with my cars when the battery was dead .... next morning after trying it again, I changed to the spare battery and it fired up with no problem ... Long story short, even though I sparenly use battery power when we are out sailing, Its a great peace of mind to have a spare battery ... just MHO
