I'm concerned about random damage from the propellers, etc.
Any suggestions on the best way to add an additional layer of canvas, etc., to protect the skin?

I am on my second one. I just threw away my 4-person Navigator II 500 after two of the four chambers failed. I got a little over a year's use out of it. I just bought a 3-person Seahawk II on Amazon for just over $100. I suspect that the inflatables, even the less expensive ones are reasonably puncture resistant. My Navigator failed (I think) from being inflated too high and left in the sun on a hot pool deck. Here is a link to the one I just got, if interested.
